It lies on the mild and sheltered southern shore of the lovely moray firth in north east scotland. The cottage is fully equipped and modernised with oil fired central heating,solar hot water, free wifi and wood burning stove in the cosy sitting area. The cottage occupies an elevated position with attractive views from the garden looking over the village to the back shore,extensive dunes and beyond to the north sea. It is just a near-by from the front bay shore and just a few steps from the local village store and post office. Findhorn's 2 pubs are famous for fresh seafood and the bakehouse restuarant at the bottom of the lane serves delicious coffee and freshly baked bread daily. The comfortable accommodation sleeps 5/6. Unusually for fishermans cottages in the village 100 findhorn has its own secluded garden equipped with garden furniture and loungers.it also has its own parking for 2 cars alongside the cottage and a separate safe area for a boat and trailer. The cottage is a perfect base for those seeking either an active outdoor holiday or a relaxing romantic retreat in a beautiful part of scotland.
Activities abound with sailing and fishing in the bay; walking and wildlife watching with local ospreys,a seal colony on the point and the famous moray firth dolphins just a boat ride away.
Findhorn is known for its spectacular long sandy beach; miles of golden sand backed by impressive sand dunes - a delight for children and pic-nic lovers alike. The cairngorm national park is a 45 minute drive from the cottage and offers further activities from hill walking,mountain biking and skiing in the winter.
Findhorn is on the famous speyside whisky trail with nearby distilleries offering interesting and distinctive tours and tastings.
Scotland is synonymous with golf and nearby are several championship courses. From 2011 and for 3 years, the scottish open golf championship will be held in july at nearby castle stuart which is 30 minutes away.
This part of scotland abounds with history,myth and legend and was once the seat of scottish kings. Castles worth a visit include brodie, cawdor and castle stuart itself. The famous and tragic battlefield at culloden is also nearby and in the excellent visitor centre the battle in all its detail is graphically retold with sound and vision.
