Town: on the borders of the yorkshire wolds and close to the bustling market town of driffield is the quiet village of skerne. Set in wonderful, rural countryside, this charming little town is not a traditional tourist destination so visitors can experience local life. The nearby town of driffield is often known as the 'capital of the yorkshire wolds' and provides a variety of family-run shops, tea-rooms, public houses, and a twice-weekly market as well as 2 supermarkets. Annually, the town's showground hosts the local agricultural show and a historic steam and vintage rally. The canal banks at river head make excellent scenery for a number of interesting walks whilst cruckley animal farm and the puffin and gannet colonies on the soaring bempton cliffs are worth visiting.
