Hythe has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants and has a high street advantage of waitrose, 1 of britain's top supermarkets just a few minutes walk from captains house. Southampton port is the home to many of the worlds leading cruise liners. During the season p&o and cunard liners are frequent visitors as they make their inward and outward journeys around the world. Throughout the day and night ships of all sizes and types may be seen close at hand as they slip gently past. Cunards new and famous qm2 is a regular visitor and her berth, within view of the waterfront green, is almost opposite hythe. The open walks of the new forest national park are just 2mis and only five minutes by car an excellent local golf course with a restaurant having splendid views over the course with a backdrop of cunards qm2 berth in the distance.
