Said by some to have been the home of a famous local pirate, lantau cottage offers discerning guests a flavour of days long gone. It is ideally located in looe's old medieval town and is just metres from the nearby beach, harbour, restaurants and cafes. The house has a 5 star rating from the enlish tourist board and benefits from high-quality furniture and soft furnishings throughout. In recognition of its outstanding quality and cleanliness visit britain awarded the house its gold award for 2010/11 - its highest award. Located in a tucked away position within the fascinating narrow harbourside streets of the old town, the cottage is set out over 3 floors and can accommodate 8-9 guests in five beds (3 doubles, one twin & one single). The centrepiece of the house is the beautiful open plan living room and the whole house will be found to offer great charm and character with original exposed beams and quarry tiled floors.the adjacent dedicated dining area room with its large farmhouse kitchen table, old church pew and chairs provides seating for up to ten people. The lounge has comfortable chairs and sofas as well as a colour tv, video disc player and tv with freeview. There is a selection of books, games and cds available for your enjoyment as well as wifi highspeed broadband access. Follow the circular staircase and old ship mast up to the 1st floor to find the 1st 3 beds. Each room is rich in individual character and being immaculately presented with quality furnishings. Quality furniture provides ample hanging space and drawers. The single room with its oriel window to front., ornament niche with stone reveals and wood lintel is a wonderfully cosy room with exposed beams, built in wardrobe and original early 17th century panelled walls. Adjacent to this, the 1st of the 2 doubles also features a rare oriel window and has beautiful hand crafted furniture that is very much in keeping with the period. Opposite, the 2nd double bedroom has an original elizabethan panelled wall and an original fireplace. A further climb brings you to a twin room located on the 2nd floor with rustic pine furniture that is perfect for children and adults alike. Beyond this is the spacious master bedroom with a stunning gabled beamed ceiling. This room has a 5 ft antique pine double bed, antique stripped pine bedside units, matching double wardrobe, and an easy chair. An unusual reading room is accessible from the master bedroom and you have to climb three steps in the wall and then three steps down the other side of the hole to this character room which has a gabled ceiling, reading lamp, double aspect window and settee. A real get away from it all room. The family bathroom is located on the 1st floor and is immaculately presented with a quality walk-in power shower, mirror, heated towel rail, wash basin and wc. The en-suite bathroom has a walk-in power shower with antique gold-effect fittings, character wash basin and wc. Lantau is normally let from saturday to saturday and the use of bed linen and domestic towels included in tariff. A high chair, travel cot and baby bath are available - please advise if required.

East looe includes the fishing harbour, the main shopping centre and the sandiest beach. West looe is quieter, but also has shops, restaurants and hotels and leads to hannafore with its fine views of looe island. The 2 towns are joined together by a bridge across the river.
