Just 10 mis away is the popular peak district town of matlock which, together with its neighbour matlock bath, is set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the river derwent. The matlocks offer a wide selection of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as a host of other exciting attractions. Incredible views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car, which takes visitors up to the heights of abraham - a terrific place for all the family with many different activities on offer. South of belper is the start of the high peak cycle trail, and to the north is the market town of bakewell and chatsworth house.
