The house has a colourful history prior to being converted into a bed and breakfast. Dating back to 1804 we have documented evidence that hedgefield house was the 1st home in britain to have a telephone installed. In 1877 the inventor of the telephone alexander graham bell made the 1st experimental phone call from the drawing room to the local coal mine. We are ideally situated only ten minutes from the city centre and gateshead metro shopping complex and ten minutes walk to historic ryton village with its numerous cafes and restaurants. We are also only a close-by from the river tyne and the hadrians wall walk. Its location makes it perfect for hikers bikers and city visitors. All rooms are well equipped and individually decorated maintaining many original features. A continental breakfast is also included. We have great leisure facilities for our guests to use including a sauna gymnasium and relaxation area. Free parking is available for guests.
all bedrooms are decorated in a light and relaxing colour scheme. They are furnished in a style which compliments the georgian features of the house.many rooms have original fireplaces window shutters and cornice work.
hedgefield house is a georgian mansion house set in 4 acres of award-winning gardens with pond and streams.we have a small gymnasium with free weights and aerobic equipment.opening times are 10.00a.m. Till 8.00p.m. There is no charge. We also have a sauna which can be used for a small fee. Hedgefield house has highspeed broadband with wi-fi connection throughout the building. Use is free of charge.
the house is standing in secluded wooded gardens approximately. 4mis from newcastle city centre and 3 mis from metro shopping centre.we are on direct bus route to both venues with buses every fifteen minutes.we are one mile from hadrian's wall trail and the riverside trail is a similar distance.beamish museum and the northumbrian coastline with it's numerous historic castles are a quick drive.alnwick castle and gardens are a one hour drive away.
