Many of the original features of the building have been retained and give the cottage an old-world charm. Couple this with state of the art furnishings and facilities and the result is a rural idyll! The steading is the perfect size for 4 people with a double room and a twin room. Downstairs a light and spacious open-plan kitchen opens into the cosiest of sitting areas complete with a wood burning stove to curl up by. French doors opening on to a patio area within the private garden making the perfect place for a bite to eat in the summer. A downstairs shower-room with toilet is a handy place for muddy boots after a walk in the country!
if more than four people stay then there is a charge of £50 per week per extra person. Dogs are welcome but there is an extra charge of £20 per week per dog for the additional cleaning required. Please note that these are the prices for 2012.
eastside cottages are situated just six mi. From the edinburgh city by-pass half a mile beyond silverburn on the a702. To get to eastside cottages, you take the a702 or biggar road from the edinburgh city by-pass, the a720. You drive approx 5 and a half miles southwest until you reach the village of silverburn. You then drive straight on through the village and half a mile beyond the village, on the right hand side, you will see a bus shelter and, a few yards beyond it, a recessed field gate (where you can safely turn off the main road to open the gate). You proceed through this gate and one mi. Up the track you will find the cottages. Travel by air: the nearest airport is edinburgh (15 mis from eastside). Glasgow is aproximately 50 mis away.
