It has seen life as the village pub and later a post office. A quick drive north will take you to the historic town of cardigan and poppit sands or newport in the other direction with its large, sandy beach, shops, restaurants, pubs and golf course. Bridgend is an ideal base for couples or families. At the end of a busy day relax in the large, lawned garden which is ideal for children.bridgend, being over 200 yrs old, has a very interesting and historical past and is 1 of the very few properties in the picturesque village of moylegrove of this age to retain many original features. By oral tradition bridgend was known as tafarn smyglwr (smugglers inn) and was also used in the early 19th century as a lodging house for welsh non-conformist preachers. In the census records of 1841, the property was used as a public house named bridgend inn and was occupied by a publican, his wife and an eleven year old agricultural labourer. Bridgend remained as a public house, with the publicans widow as the licensee until 1881 when it became the 1st post office in the village. In a deed found dated back to 1922 bridgend was renamed the old post office and retained this name until it was sold in 1944. It then reverted back to its original name of bridgend. The former village inn was then used as a meeting place for the year urdd gobaith cymru (welsh league of youth) and evening music classes were held by students of aberystwyth university. The property is regularly photographed by professional photographers and holidaymakers because of its traditional and characteristic appearance. It has featured as a front piece of the local community newspaper and also as a background in a tv documentary.
