This well-equipped cottage is set in an excellent position and makes an ideal base from which to explore dorset and wessex. Free range hens and sheep graze in the surrounding fields and eggs are readily available to purchase on site. There are a number of local footpaths to discover whilst the village itself is perfectly positioned for taking advantage of the superb surrounding countryside and walks. Amenities: full oil central heating. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, cloths washer, dishwasher, 42” plasma screen colour television with full cinema surround sound and freesat, video disc player, cd player/cassette/radio etc. All fuel and power inc. In rent. Bed linen and towels (not tea towels) inc. In rent. Travel cot, highchair and baby bath available. Off road parking for three cars. Patio area with garden furniture, leading via steps to lawned area and garden shed (must bring own padlock). Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop ten mins walk, pub one mile. Note: there is a raised pond to the front of the property. Young children must be supervised. Note: 28th july - 11th august 2012 charged at £1235 per week (inclusive of £35 booking fee) due to olympic games. Region: explore the fossils and stunning beaches of dorset’s jurassic coast, visit historic sherborne and shaftesbury, or enjoy the footpaths, country lanes and thatched-roof pubs dorset offers. Town: set in the valley of the river cerne, the scattered community of charminster is surrounded by glorious, unspoiled countryside and is served by a shop and pub – though for more specialist amenities the town of dorchester is just a mile and a half away. Packed with roman roads, museums and a wide selection of pubs and restaurants, dorchester is well worth visiting. Other local attractions include maiden castle, the largest hill fort in england, and visit the county museum, which has a room devoted to thomas hardy, the author of 'tess of the d'urbervilles’, born just 2mis away in bockhampton. Also within easy driving distance are the glorious beaches and picturesque harbour of weymouth, as well as the rugged peninsula of portland linked to the mainland by chesil beach and part of the breathtaking world heritage coastline.
