As well as the delights of york there is the beauty of the yorkshire wolds to discover, making the cart shed an ideal base for this part of yorkshire. Once known as jorvik, this vibrant town was a major viking centre of commerce and boasts a enormous selection of architecture from a variety of historical periods. From the city walls to the charming shopping street known as the shambles, york has something for everybody. There are various cruises available down the river ouse and visitors can enjoy the national railway museum, the castle museum and betty’s tea rooms – home of yorkshire tea and an incredibly unique mirror from the 2nd world war on which service men visiting the café could write their names with a diamond-tipped ‘pen’. Further afield are the yorkshire dales and moors as well as the coastal resorts of scarborough, whitby and filey, making this an incredibly diverse destination.

The price for a three night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted winter short break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Osbs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "last minute breaks" (lmb) are available at most properties throughout the "low", "mid", "high", "peak", "xmas" and "new year" periods. The price for a three night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted winter short break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Lmbs can be booked within 1 week of the start date of the holiday.
